We are often told that the Impressionists were wildly creative, even mentally unstable geniuses who broke all the rules. Is this a myth? Learn the underlying foundation of knowlege upon which the Impressionists built. Then use this understanding as a springboard for your own creative flight.

Fresh paints and fresh air... What an intoxicating combination! Each afternoon we will meet at a different location in or near Nashville. As the afternoon progresses, the light will just keep getting better. I will demonstrate the process of plein aire painting. I will help you choose a good composition, and guide you in your work. There is a secret known only to a few artists. It is a special box with compartments in it, in which you can place premixed colors arranged in such a way as to help you achieve depth and light in your paintings. In this two-day workshop, we will construct such a box, and you will mix your colors using a time-tested formula.
